Hólmur

Hólmur in Landbroti holds an important place in the local history of Skaftárhreppur and Vestur-Skaftafellsýsla during the 20th century. It played a key role in Iceland’s electrification and in the development of rural carpentry during that period. The buildings at Hólmur, now designated as a protected site, have been preserved almost exactly as they were — complete with tools and equipment — offering a unique insight into both the nation’s technological heritage and the local history of the region.
